This fourth weekend of Advent reminds us of how God calls us to do amazing and sometimes overwhelming things for life, ours, and others alike. The catch is that there is a choice: we can say no or yes.
I can honestly say that as I tend to grow older, it seems that there are few moments without the opportunity to choose since death and life are always before me.
I have also come to understand that to say yes is saying I choose life, and one aspect of choosing life is choosing joy. Joy is life-giving; many times, joy brings some sort of change. A joyful heart is a heart in which something new is being born.
As we think about how Mary’s yes brought so much joy into the world, let us also think of ways that we can choose joy to bring about magnificent changes in our lives and our world.
Seasons blessings,
Deacon Jeff
