Reconciliation

Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.
– John 20:23
Sacrament of First Reconciliation
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. The Lord’s Prayer
“Catechesis for children must always respect the natural disposition, ability, age, and circumstances of individuals. It seeks, first, to make clear the relationship of the sacrament to the child’s life; second, to help the child recognize moral good and evil, repent of wrongdoing, and turn for forgiveness to Christ and the Church; third, to encourage the child to see that, in this sacrament, faith is being expressed by being forgiven and forgiving; fourth, to encourage the child to approach the sacrament freely and regularly. (NCD 126)
Parents have the responsibility for the education of their children.
(Catechism of the Catholic Church #2223)
We recognize that parents are the prime educators of their children; thus, they are enabled in our family process to educate their children on the revised Rite of Reconciliation. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is first experienced at home.
In keeping with the Archdiocesan Policy, children preparing to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation must have a minimum of 1-year previous religious education in a CCE or day school program and must be currently enrolled and actively participating in a CCE or day school program. Completion of the instruction for First Reconciliation will be required before beginning the preparation for First Communion.
