SMALL CHURCH COMMUNITIES

The United States Catholic Bishops have identified adult faith formation as the axis around which revolves the faith formation in childhood, adolescence, as well as older adults the passage from Luke’s Gospel offers a model for ministry and ongoing faith formation.  All of us, as disciples of Christ, need to be constantly nourished by the revelation of God in word and sacrament so that we may grow in the wisdom and grace of the Catholic Christian life.

As you know, Sacred Heart Church covers a large geographic area and there are many miles between our church family members.  Even when we come to mass on a regular basis, it is very possible to find ourselves sitting amid strangers!

We recognize our need for Small Church Communities when we acknowledge that we all long to be connected, that we all share solidarity with one another in an unpredictable and often confusing world, that we all have a story to tell and share, and that we can make a difference for one another. You are affirmed because you are missed!

Like the early Christian churches, our communities are vital in fulfilling the need to experience faith and love.  You will have the opportunity not only to deepen your prayer life, but experience your faith as a group of Jesus’ friends who know and love one another.  You will have support in making the decisions that you know in your heart are right, but are not supported by secular society.
